At Monday's Board meeting of April 21, 2025, two new Summit Police Officers were sworn in. Rory O'Connor and Giberto Guillen were sworn in by Chief Ortiz and Fire and Police Commissioner Ricardo Davila before the Mayor, the Village Board and in the presence of residents and the new officer's family and loved ones. They will attend the Cook County Sheriff's Police Academy starting May 5, 2025, and upon successful completion of the 480-hour program will continue their training through the department's Field Training Officer Program. 

The hiring of these new officers was facilitated through the department's efforts in securing a Grant from the Department of Justice for the hiring of 3 new officers. 

We wish them a long and safe career serving the residents and the community of the Village of Summit.
