On the December 5, 2022, Village Board meeting two new police officers were sworn in by Interim Chief Ortiz. The officers took their oath of office in the presence of Mayor Rodriguez, The Board of Trustees, Family and village residents. The new officers had opportunity to introduce their families who were present for their moment.  Officer Austin O'Malley is already a certified police officer and will begin his field training program the week of December 11, 2022. Officer Francisco Benitez, who grew up in the Village of Summit, will begin the police academy for basic training on January 3, 2023. We would like to welcome them aboard and wish them well on their new careers serving the residents of Summit.
