On December 2, 2025, Summit Police Drone Operator Officer Hodorowicz responded to assist Hickory Hills Police in a disturbance involving a firearm.
The suspected firearm was located by Hickory Hills Police officers and determined to be an airsoft pistol. Meanwhile, Officer Hodorowicz utilized the drone to locate the offender in a wooded area, who was attempting to evade detection.
Through the drone's surveillance, Officer Hodorowicz provided crucial information to the officers on the ground, leading them to the offender's location and subsequent apprehension. The offender was taken into custody by Hickory Hills officers and processed accordingly.
This successful collaboration between agencies exemplifies the importance of teamwork in effective policing. The Summit Police Department is grateful for the strong partnerships with neighboring agencies, ensuring a safer community for all.
