Retired K9 Officer Otto, the loyal partner of Sergeant Michael Moran, crossed the rainbow bridge on October 17, 2023. Otto thrived and was loved for 11 years.
Otto was born around April 2013 and was partnered with Sgt. Moran sometime in the summer of 2014. Otto was not yet academy-trained, but he patrolled with Moran until April of 2015 when they attended a five-week (200-hour) Basic Patrol School at the Inglis Police Dog Academy in Oxnard, California.
In June 2015, Otto and Moran completed the certification for Narcotics Detection from the Southwest Working K9 Association and later in 2018 went on to complete 40 hours of Urban Tracking School instructed by the Inglis Police Dog Academy.
He was trained in obedience, tracking, urban tracking, building searches, area searches, article searches, apprehension, and narcotics detection.
K9 Otto retired from service in January and lived out the remainder of his life with Sgt. Moran and his family.
He was loved and respected by many. 💔
