Announcing the 2023 Cortez Police Department Citizens Academy!  The Academy takes place for 6 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-8pm beginning September 19th, 2023 at 608 North Park Street in Cortez.

Each session provides different information including police policy, reports, crime scenes, arrest control, extreme risk protection order information (ERPOs), actual department training videos and training with less lethal options including tasers. Each night will consist of an hour of classroom and an hour of hands on training and fun reality-based decision-making scenarios. 

There is no cost for this class and it will fill up quickly. We are limiting this academy to 12 citizens providing the opportunity for each person, each night, to complete the scenarios. We are looking for a diverse group of people and encourage you to sign up with a friend!
