We have seen a big increase in vehicle trespasses. In a lot of these cases, the vehicle is not locked.

Here are some things to remember:

• Always lock your vehicle, even when it’s parked in your driveway or garage.
• Always take your keys / fob with you.
• Never leave or hide a spare key anywhere on your vehicle.
• Never leave your car running while unattended or unlocked.
• Park in well-lit areas.
• Keep the exterior of homes and driveways well lit.
• Close all your vehicle’s windows completely when parked.
• Never leave valuables (cell phones, laptops, money, guns, etc.) in your vehicle.
• Don't leave your garage door opener in plain sight to prevent access to your home.

Pay careful attention when you leave your vehicle and when you return to it.  Watch for people lurking nearby.  If you see something, say something. 

Call the 9-1-1 and be ready to provide as much information as possible to help police find the person or vehicle.
