Language Line Services

Language Identification Charts are prominently displayed at the front counter of the police department and placed in all police cars. In case of illiteracy or when written materials have not been translated, an interpreter will be made available to read such forms and documents to LEP individuals in their primary language. Alternatively, Language Line Services can be used for interpretation purposes.

To facilitate easy communication and identification of the primary language of LEP individuals, the Department provides a Language Line card that lists languages alphabetically. This enables LEP persons to point to their primary language for quick identification. Moreover, all police department personnel are issued Language Identification Cards that have languages printed on them. These cards can be used by LEP individuals to identify their primary language by simply pointing at the language printed on the card.
