On 5/3/2019 at 2300 hours, an Officer from the West Manchester Township Police Department was dispatched to Walmart where the caller, a Loss Prevention Officer, had 2 females in custody for retail theft. Both subjects were being cooperative.
On arrival, the Officer identified both subjects as Victoria R. Medina and Angel M. Torres. The LPO informed me that he was walking the floor and observed both females in the purse aisle selecting hand bags. The LPO then followed both subjects through the store and observed them selecting various articles of women's and children's clothing as well as bath and body products and concealing them inside the hang bags. The LPO followed the subjects to checkout and observed Angel make a small purchase, however the hand bags containing the other merchandise were not paid for. The LPO observed both subjects pass all other points of sale and continued towards the exit. At which time, the LPO stopped the females, identified to them that he was with Lost Prevention, and asked them to return back to his office, which they complied. The total amount of merchandise stolen was $380.81.
The Officer provided both subjects with their Miranda Warnings. Both Angel and Victoria did not deny the LPO’s statements. Angel indicated that she stole a few of the items and that Victoria was responsible for the majority of the theft. She indicated that Victoria was going to sell the stolen merchandise. Victoria told me that she is addicted to heroin and was stealing to support her habit.
The Officer transported Victoria to Central Booking where she was processed and released. Charges filed against Victoria R. Medina for Retail Theft (M1).
