On May 14th, shortly after 10:15 am at the Rutter's on Lewisberry Road, a female customer exited the store to find a male subject pulling his arm out of her open passenger-side window. She confronted the subject, who then fled in a blue Dodge Caravan. She was able to obtain the license number of the vehicle, which came back to an address in Harrisburg. The woman also discovered that her checkbook was missing from her purse that was inside her car and called police.
Shortly thereafter, police located the vehicle in the New Market area of Fairview Township and spoke with 55-yr old Carlos Gonzalez-Cruz of 13th street in Harrisburg. He admitted to taking the checkbook and subsequently turned it over to police. He was arrested and charged with one count each of Theft from a Motor Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Property.
