At approximately 9:00 am, a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report elder fraud involving a phone scammer posing as the resident’s credit union with a large monetary loss. The investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 4:00 pm, a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report identity theft. A credit card was opened in her name and used to purchase firearms. An incident report was made to document the incident.

At approximately 9:00 am, a Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters to report fraud involving scammers posing as the resident’s bank, couriers, and a large monetary loss. The investigation was referred to the detective division and is ongoing.

August 6, 2026
At approximately 10:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Barclay Street. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
