Beginning May 11, 2026, the Lancaster Township Police Department will participate in a coordinated traffic enforcement campaign alongside law enforcement agencies throughout Lancaster County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This statewide initiative is focused on increasing seat belt use and highlighting the serious consequences of failing to properly wear a restraint, with the goal of reducing injuries and fatalities on our roadways.
This campaign is part of a broader Pennsylvania effort involving more than 300 municipal police departments in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police. Through grant funding provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Lancaster Township Police Department will deploy additional officers during targeted enforcement periods at no additional cost to Township residents.
As part of this initiative, the Lancaster Township Police Department will utilize proactive enforcement and public education efforts to promote seat belt compliance and enhance roadway safety.
Enforcement efforts will continue for several weeks, with officers actively monitoring compliance with Pennsylvania’s occupant restraint laws. Motor vehicle occupants found to be in violation during this enforcement period may be subject to citation.
