On December 30, 2025, at approximately 12:04 a.m., officers from the Lancaster Township Police Department were dispatched to the first block of West Street for a welfare check involving a male who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that was running with the gear selector in the drive position. The driver, later identified as Reinaldo Chavez, was observed asleep behind the wheel. Officers safely placed the vehicle in park and awakened Chavez. While speaking with him, officers observed signs of impairment.

Chavez was taken into custody on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. A subsequent blood test revealed the presence of controlled substances in his system.

As a result of the investigation, Chavez was charged with the following offenses:

• DUI – Controlled Substance, Schedule I
• DUI – Controlled Substance, Schedule II or III
• DUI – Controlled Substance – Impaired Ability

All charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Mary Mongiovi‑Sponaugle, Magisterial District Court 02‑2‑03 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
