Warwick Township, PA - The Warwick Police Department invites parents, guardians, students, and community members to join for an important discussion on sextortion — a growing online crime targeting children and teens.
Sextortion occurs when someone coerces or manipulates a person into sharing explicit images or videos and then threatens to release them unless money, additional images, or other demands are met. These crimes often begin on social media platforms, gaming apps, or messaging services.
This community conversation will cover:
• How sextortion occurs
• How cases are investigated and prosecuted
• How it impacts youth and families
• Warning signs and prevention steps that can help keep children and teens safe online
Our goal is prevention through education. Awareness and open communication are key to keeping our children safe online.
