On November 7, at about 11:45am Carlisle Police responded to a report of an assault at the Seven Gables Apartments. Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the stairwell of the building, going in and out of consciousness with severe head wounds.

Witnesses reported that the suspect, later identified as Odudu Ukpanah, had assaulted the victim on the stairs and then choked her on the ground while slamming her head into the cement floor. The suspect initially fled the scene when witnesses appeared but returned a few moments later to assault the victim again prior to Police arrival. The victim was taken by Emergency Medical Services to the hospital for treatment for her severe injuries. 

The Ukpanah was located in a nearby apartment and taken into custody. Ukpanah was arraigned on charges of Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault of Unborn Child, and Strangulation by Magisterial District Judge Rogers and is being held at Cumberland County Prison without bail.
