It’s going to be hotter than the surface of the sun today.
Do NOT leave pets, kids, or husbands in the car (it doesn’t matter how much he hates shopping, buy him a snack, he will get over it), not for “just a second,” not while you “run in real quick,” not even while “grabbing one thing.”
In this weather, the inside of a car can go from warm to deadly in minutes — even with the windows cracked.
On an 85-degree day, it takes about 10 minutes for your car’s interior to hit 104 degrees. On a day like today? It’s faster. Much faster.
Also — please take a moment to check on your elderly neighbors, friends, and family. Heat-related injuries can happen quickly, especially to those most vulnerable.
We will be out there, highly caffeinated, sweaty, and questioning our life choices that led us to wear black uniforms and ballistic vests while patrolling what currently feels like the surface of the sun.
Help keep everyone safe, stay cool, drink water like your life depends on it, and check in on those who might need a little extra care.
Stay safe, Manheim Township!
