Theft by Unlawful Taking Arrest, March 27, 2025, 600 block of Fleetwood Dr (MT) – George Frederick Hammer, M/43, of Lancaster, PA, was charged with the above offense following a response to a report of a theft. An officer met with the victim, who stated that on March 13, 2025, a contractor was hired to do work in their home. After the contractor left the property, the victim noticed that a pair of custom diamond earrings that had been in a box on the bathroom counter where the work was being done were missing. The earrings were purchased for $9,529.40, and the victim provided the GIA numbers of the earrings. The victim thought one of the contractors may have taken the earrings. The victim’s spouse had contacted local jewelers to be on the lookout for the earrings in case someone tried to sell them. One of the jewelers called and notified the victim that earrings matching the GIA report numbers provided had been dropped off at their store to get an appraisal. The earrings were appraised at $11,000. The victim was shown a still image of the security camera footage of the suspect at the jeweler, and the victim confirmed it was the contractor who had done the work in their bathroom. A work order slip from the jeweler contained the suspect’s information, confirming the male in the video footage was George Hammer.
A criminal complaint was filed on March 27, 2025. George Frederick Hammer was arraigned before MDJ Monson and released on unsecured bail.
