On July 11, 2024 the Newtown Township Police Department identified a black Mercedes Benz traveling in the area that was wanted for mail thefts in Montgomery County earlier in the week. The vehicle fled into New Jersey while discarding mail onto the Scudder Falls Bridge.

Victims throughout the Delaware Valley were identified from the discarded mail. We have been in contact with the known victims from Newtown Township which were in the Woods of Saxony development. Anyone in the area who placed a personal check in their mailbox on July 11, 2024 should monitor their accounts.

Mail thefts have been on the rise throughout our area. We ask that if you must mail a personal check, that it be handed directly to a mail carrier or dropped off inside the post office. The suspects often target personal mailboxes with a raised flag and the USPS blue boxes.
