On March 11, 2024, at 6:05AM, Officers were dispatched to the area of E. State Street and N. Union Street for an accident. Upon arrival to the area, Officers observed a white transit van that had struck a gray Silverado, which was legally parked in the 100 Block of E. State Street. Contact was made with the subjects in the transit van, who advised a female subject was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident. Upon making contact with the owner of the Silverado, they stated they heard the crash and observed the female subject and a male subject, identified as James Thach, switch seats after the crash occurred. Their statements were corroborated by a second subject, who observed the crash and stated James Thach was the operator of the vehicle and had switched seats with the female subject. After further investigation, a criminal complaint for False Reports to Law Enforcement, was filed at District Court 15-3-04. Case is pending a preliminary hearing.
