HAPPY 247th BIRTHDAY AMERICA
WE SALUTE ALL OF OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN FOR KEEPING OUR NATION SAFE
We love to celebrate the 4th of July with family, friends, food, and fireworks. And yet, all too often, the festivities turn tragic on our roads. This American holiday is also one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to impaired-driving crashes.
Did you know that July 4th is the second-most-deadly holiday period of the year – just behind New Year’s – due to impaired driving. Drunk / Drugged / Impaired driving is a serious crime. If you're caught you will be arrested. No exceptions! No excuses! Much of the tragedy that comes from impaired-driving related crashes could be prevented if everyone would take a few simple precautions before going out to party this Fourth of July weekend.
Always follow these tips for a safer July 4th celebration:
The Saugerties Police will be working with other local police agencies this Holiday weekend, adding extra patrols for detecting and arresting impaired drivers.
Reminder that on Sunday, July 9th , once again our village streets in the business hub of our village, will be shut down to traffic as we welcome the Sawyer Motors Car Show, filling our streets with hundreds of classic and antique vehicles that are sure do bring back the memories. Vintage vehicles and Non-stop live entertainment brings thousands of people to Saugerties each year for this special event. Spectator admission is always free to the public. All of the village shops and restaurants are open for business. Fifty plus trophies are awarded to the best of the best! It's a fun day for adults and kids of all ages. Hope to see you there.
Our Village Beach is now open, remember swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are on duty ! Please be safe and enjoy, remember to keep an eye and close hands on the little ones !!
