Students from Graves Elementary School were mixing fun with learning during a reptile show at the school when they were also visited by some summit police officers. The kids all seemed happy to see the officers stop by and greeted them with open arms. Building on the work that school resource officer Dominguez does daily with the youth of the town is very important to us. SRO Dominguez provides a daily visual of the public contact between the staff, students and parents of District 104 and police officers. Initiating positive interactions that build trust with the young students, allow them to see law enforcement as people they can call on if they are in need of assistance. Letting them know that if they are lost and see a police officer, he/she is a friend they can stop and ask for help and not to be afraid of them. Our officers enjoyed their visit as they continue to stop almost daily at each school of district 104.
