The Summit Police Department, in partnership with School District 104, recently participated in a critical training event focused on emergency response to an intruder in a school setting. This collaborative effort also involved the Summit Fire Department and the Bedford Park Police Department.
During the exercise, officers from the participating agencies trained alongside staff and role players from District 104 to enhance their response to such a scenario. The training allowed police officers to practice their skills in a realistic and controlled environment, ensuring they are better equipped to respond effectively in the event of an emergency.
In addition, police department personnel worked alongside fire department personnel to assist with their duties in providing medical care during such an incident. This joint training enabled both agencies to improve their coordination and response times, ultimately enhancing the safety of students, teachers, and staff.
The Summit Police Department would like to extend its gratitude to School District 104 for arranging this valuable training event. We recognize that constant communication and collaboration are essential in providing a safe environment for our schools. We are committed to continuing our efforts to ensure the well-being of our community.
Together, we can make a difference in keeping our schools safe!
