On Saturday, June 15, 2024, The Summit Police Department joined a car show event held at Summit Park. A SWAT vehicle was on display for the public to see and learn about. The vehicle is part of the South Suburban Emergency Response Team's (SSERT) inventory of emergency vehicles. Summit is part of the regional team that serves approximately 33 municipalities with SWAT / emergency services. Two summit officers who serve on the team were on hand to talk about the vehicle, its capabilities and how it serves the communities. 

There was a lot of interest and questions from kids of all ages and even provided an opportunity for our residents to get to know some of the officers who serve them.
