NCPD, NHTSA, SCDPS Urge Fans to Plan a Sober Ride Home Ahead of Super Bowl LX
As fans gear up for Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, the North Charleston Police Department, U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) are reminding drivers that Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.
Super Bowl celebrations often include alcohol, but driving impaired is illegal and deadly. Anyone attending a Super Bowl party should plan ahead for a designated driver or a safe, sober ride home. Hosts are encouraged to help protect their guests by offering plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages and supporting those who volunteer to be designated drivers.
The designated driver is the night’s real MVP and should commit to staying sober from kickoff until the final whistle.
Drunk Driving by the Numbers
NHTSA and SCDPS urge everyone celebrating Super Bowl LX to make a plan before the game starts. If you plan to drink, do not drive. Use a designated driver, public transportation, a taxi, or a ride-share service.
