North Charleston Police Department’s (NCPD's) Special Victims Unit has arrested two individuals following an investigation into the alleged sexual assault and attempted prostitution of a juvenile.
On September 26th, officers responded to the 3100 block of N. Atlantic Avenue after a missing juvenile was found. The juvenile told officers she had run away and was sleeping outside near a fast food restaurant on Rivers Avenue when she was approached by a woman who offered her shelter at a local motel. There, the girl said she was sexually assaulted by a man while a woman allegedly encouraged the assault. The victim also reported drug use in the motel room.

Additionally, Deveaux had outstanding arrest warrants with both the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office and Clarendon County Sheriff's Office. Both suspects were booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. These arrests were a result of a coordinated effort by our Special Victims Unit detectives, Patrol officers, and Intelligence Led Policing Unit. Good job to all!
