The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) Traffic Unit and the Charleston County Coroner's Office are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning, which resulted in a road closure on Dorchester Rd westbound between Lowell Dr and Purcell Dr.

Preliminary investigative findings indicate that a fatal collision occurred just before 8am., on Dorchester Rd westbound at the intersection with Forest Hills Dr. The collision involved a heavy duty pickup truck versus a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on-scene. The pickup truck remained on-scene. At this point, no charges are anticipated as a result of the ongoing investigation.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the motorcyclist at a later time.
