The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) is currently investigating a suicide incident that occurred on the Don Holt Bridge, that forced a temporary closure of one of the eastbound travel lanes this morning.

Today, at around 7:22 a.m., officers responded to a call on I-526 eastbound, on top of the Don Holt Bridge, regarding an individual who had jumped from the bridge. Upon arrival, an investigation revealed that a teenager had exited a vehicle and jumped off the bridge before officers arrived. With the help of the Charleston Police Department's Marine Unit, the victim was quickly found under the bridge. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased shortly after.

The incident is currently being investigated by NCPD and the Charleston County Coroner's Office.
