The North Charleston Police Department is proud to announce that Captain Corey Holt has successfully graduated from the University of Chicago Crime Lab’s Policing Leadership Academy, a nationally recognized education program dedicated to reducing violent crime and enhancing officer wellness.
Captain Holt was selected as one of only 35 law enforcement leaders from across the country to complete the Academy’s rigorous five-month curriculum. The program provides hands-on training in data-driven management, violence reduction strategies, and building community trust—key components of modern, evidence-based policing.
The Policing Leadership Academy was developed based on University of Chicago Crime Lab research showing that improvements in police department management can deliver meaningful reductions in both violent crime and the use of force. The Academy equips rising police leaders with the tools needed to implement these best practices in their own agencies.
Captain Holt will apply the knowledge gained through this program to advance the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety, deepen community partnerships, and ensure effective, accountable policing.
