The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) received a distress call at approximately 2:30 am regarding an individual experiencing a mental health crisis on I-526's Don Holt Bridge. Upon arrival, officers and emergency responders found the individual in distress on the bridge, prompting the closure of the bridge in both directions.

The situation has been peacefully resolved, and the bridge has fully reopened. We appreciate the public's understanding and patience during this time, as we acknowledge the inconvenience of closing a major thoroughfare.

The Charleston Police Department and the SCDOT provided valuable assistance by rerouting traffic during the incident.
