NCPD officers arrested a juvenile Wednesday evening after he was found in possession of a handgun following a reported disturbance at Fort Dorchester High School, after school had ended for the day.
Just before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the school's parking lot for a physical altercation. According to police, the victim said she went to the school’s parking lot to meet her son after he contacted his grandfather about a vehicle he had borrowed that would not start.
The victim told officers her son was disrespectful toward his grandfather, leading to an argument. During the dispute, she said her son swung an open hand near her head, grazing her lips, and later bit her on the right cheek near her nostril.
The victim reported that her son then fled the scene toward Appian Way while carrying a handgun.
Police later apprehended the juvenile during a traffic stop involving an Uber vehicle. Officers recovered a handgun from the suspect’s backpack. A background check of the weapon revealed the lower part of the gun was reported stolen.
The juvenile was charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under 18 and Possession of Stolen Goods. He was released on a custodial promise to appear at future court hearings.
