The North Charleston Police Department's (NCPD) Traffic Unit is investigating a two-vehicle collision that resulted in a single fatality, which took place in the late yesterday evening.

Around 10:20 pm, dispatch received a call about a collision on S. Aviation Ave, between Midland Park Rd and Aviation Ave. Responding units quickly arrived at the scene and found that two-vehicles had collided, resulting in one overturning into a ditch. Unfortunately, the driver and sole occupant of the overturned vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The other vehicle driver, received minor injuries and was arrested. 26-year-old Andres Gomez Perez of North Charleston was arrested for Driving Without a Valid Driver's License and lodged at the Al Canon Detention Center.

A joint investigation is underway, led by our Traffic Unit and the Charleston County Coroner's Office, to determine the circumstances surrounding this collision. Additional charges may result from that investigation.
