North Charleston police (NCPD) arrested a 45-year-old Ladson man Tuesday in connection with a shooting reported July 28th at the First & 15th Bar-Lounge.

Officers responded just before midnight to 4306 Rivers Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting. An off-duty officer in the area was the first to arrive and reported seeing a large crowd while searching for a possible victim.

When additional officers arrived, they learned the victim had left the scene in a pickup truck and that the suspected shooter had fled in an unknown vehicle. Officers initially found no evidence of a shooting and were unable to locate anyone who had witnessed the incident. They searched the parking lot and the club but found no signs of gunfire.

Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage from city owned cameras and heard a single gunshot at approximately 11:47 p.m. Around the same time, a public safety officer at a local hospital reported that a gunshot victim was being brought in. The victim was later confirmed to be the person who had left the scene in the pickup truck.

Following further investigation, police arrested Darius Marchella McCormick on Tuesday.

McCormick faces charges of Assault and Battery by Mob, 2nd Degree with Serious Injury; Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime; and Possession of a Weapon by a Person Convicted of a Violent Crime.

He was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
