Earlier today, Lycoming County Communications notified the Williamsport Bureau of Police that they were tracking a stolen vehicle from Virginia that had been involved in a carjacking. The black Toyota, bearing Virginia registration, was traveling westbound on I-180 and approaching the Montoursville exit toward Williamsport.

Patrol officers located the vehicle and activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop it. The driver refused to stop and continued northbound on Route 15/I-99. The Williamsport Bureau of Police pursued the vehicle while coordinating with the Pennsylvania State Police. The pursuit ended when the stolen vehicle crashed in a construction zone near Blossburg.

The driver was evaluated by EMS at the scene and released into police custody. 

The WBP will be filing charges and is coordinating with the Chesterfield Police Department in Virginia.
