On December 30, 2021 at approximately 8:30 PM, an officer with the Quarryville Police Department was on patrol near the Turkey Hill, 265 West State Street Quarryville, PA 17566. While in the area, the officer queried the registration of a vehicle that had just left the Turkey Hill. The registration plate and vehicle were identified as stolen and the Officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled from the Quarryville Officer who pursued the stolen vehicle. Eventually the pursuit entered State Police jurisdiction and the Quarryville Police allowed a State Police Trooper to lead the pursuit. The fleeing vehicle intentionally struck the State Police car, disabling it. Quarryville Police again resumed the pursuit which lead to the Norman Wood Bridge on State Route 372. The Quarryville Police Officer briefly lost sight of the vehicle through fog which allowed the driver to stop the car and flee on foot into nearby woods. A passenger in the vehicle was detained for questioning and a police K9 was utilized to track the suspect, but the suspect was not immediately located. Through an investigation the fleeing driver was identified as Shane McCracken whom has been subsequently arrested via an arrest warrant and committed to the Lancaster County Prison.
