As the symbol of our great nation, the Quarryville Police Department (QPD) views the American Flag with the utmost reverence. The U.S. Flag Code states  “The US flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

In order to uphold the high standards befitting such an emblem, the QPD is honored to announce that the Quarryville Borough in partnership with the American Legion Post # 603, Quarryville, PA, have implemented a secure flag disposal box just outside the building's main entrance, so that flags worn beyond repair can be retired in a respectful manner.

Retired flags can be placed in the box 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure that each flag will be disposed of properly.
