As of Today, Friday, June 5, 2026, Paul Miller’s Law will officially be in effect across Pennsylvania. This new state law prohibits the use of handheld devices while driving — including when stopped at a red light, stop sign, or in traffic.
Drivers are not permitted to hold their phones or other electronic devices at any time while operating a vehicle.
Law enforcement may issue citations for violations. For more information on distracted driving, the law, or Paul Miller, visit penndot.pa.gov/safety.
