The Ephrata PD is committed to the health and wellness of the public we serve, and we need to protect the health of our members in order to serve our communities. In an abundance of caution, we are modifying some of our services and procedures to limit exposure and to mitigate COVID-19 issues as much possible in a policing atmosphere.
Some of the changes you might notice:
- If you are reporting a minor incident or low-value theft, the officer may contact you by phone to take the report. There are certainly instances that still require on-scene investigation, and we will respond as necessary on a case-by-case basis.
- At station, our officers may speak with you through the window rather than coming out into the lobby to meet. If privacy is required, we may find another method to receive the report.
- Our Employment Fingerprinting service is suspended.
- Station tours are suspended
- We are working with CRIMEWATCH Technologies to develop a method to receive minor crime and incident reports via the internet.
These changes are in response to the immediate situation. When prudent, we will rescind these modifications and return to our normal customer-service focus.
