On Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at approximately 6:58 AM, Ephrata Police responded to the area of 420 Sandy Hill Rd. in West Cocalico Twp. for a report of a crash involving a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. Police determined that a Honda Civic driven by Douglas Seymour, 41, of Stevens was travelling northeast on Sandy Hill Rd. and overtook a bicycle ridden by Anthony Zbrzezny, 63, of Binghamton, NY, striking the bicyclist from behind. The bicyclist appeared to be travelling on the right side of the roadway and was utilizing a rear red flashing light. Mr. Zbrzezny was transported to Lancaster General Hospital with what appeared to be significant but not life-threatening injuries. Police plan to charge Mr. Seymour with a traffic violation.
