Ephrata Police investigated a two car crash Monday evening around 6pm on 01-04-16 involving a motorcycle and vehicle that resulted in injuries to the cyclist and passenger in the vehicle. The accident occurred at the intersection of South Reading(PA Rt. 272) and Steinmetz Roads with the motorcycle driver, Milton Jones M/57 of Ephrata being taken to Lanc. General Hospital with moderate injuries to his legs and a young female passenger from the vehicle being taken to the Wellspan Ephrata Comm. Hospital with a knee injury. The driver of the vehicle, Daryl Sensenig M/48 of Lititz and front passenger were not injured.
Witness reported they noticed the motorcyclist traveling north bound on Pa. 272 for over a half a mile without any lights. The motorcyclist approached the intersection of Steinmetz Road where a vehicle pulled out into the path of the motorcycle as it was attempting to turn left to travel south on Pa. 272. The impact threw the rider from his vehicle with the motorcycle becoming wedged under the guardrail. The roadway was closed for about an hour for investigation and clean up. Ephrata Police were assisted by Pioneer Fire Company and Fire Police. Investigation continues.
