Police, fire, and EMS units were dispatched to Route 30 eastbound in the area of the Marietta Avenue overpass for a serious crash involving a motorcycle around 1305 hours on Friday, September 3, 2021.

The initial investigation revealed a motorcycle, operated by Albert Cheeks Jr, 47-year-old male from Randallstown, Maryland, rear-ended a passenger vehicle operated by an 80-year-old female from Lancaster. Cheeks sustained serious injuries as a result of the impact and was transported to a local hospital.

The investigation further revealed Cheeks' motorcycle was involved in a minor crash on US Route 30 eastbound in the area of Running Pump Road prior to this crash. Cheeks' motorcycle sideswiped another vehicle and continued eastbound.

Witnesses reported the motorcycle operating in an aggressive manner prior to the crashes.

US Route 30 eastbound was closed until 1630 hours as members of the Lancaster County Crash Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
