At 6:14 PM Wednesday February 9, 2022 emergency responders were dispatched to Lancaster Road, State Route 72, at Lititz Road, for a vehicle accident involving a car and a tractor trailer.

Officers arrived on scene and learned that a Ford Taurus was traveling west on Lititz Road when it entered the intersection with Lancaster Road. The car was struck by a car carrier which was traveling south on Route 72.

A passenger in the car was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lancaster County Coroner's Office. The crash is still under initial investigation by the Lancaster County Major Crash Investigative Unit.

The roadway will remain closed for several hours as the crash is under investigation. Thursday morning traffic will not be impacted. 

Identities of the persons involved are being withheld at this time. More information will be shared once it is available.
