At approximately 1050hrs, Monday, April 25, 2022, police, fire and EMS were dispatched to Route 283 East, east of Spooky Nook Rd., for a multi-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, it was determined that there were a total of (7) vehicles involved, including: 2 tractor trailers, a transit van, 3 passenger cars, and one construction vehicle. Both lanes of Rt. 283 East were blocked. Work was being done at the time on the guiderail to right of the eastbound lanes. This work was not interfering with traffic flow. The transit van came to a stop in the right eastbound lane, resulting in one of the tractor trailers striking it from behind. This resulted in chain-reaction crash. Two of the drivers involved were taken to a local hospital for treatment of what appear to be minor injuries. Route 283 East was shut down between Spooky Nook Rd. and State Rd. for approximately (2) hours as a result of the crash, which is still under investigation.
