On Monday, 5/4/26, Columbia Police patrol officers were dispatched to the area of South Second and Union streets for a vehicle accident. The scene investigation showed that two juveniles were riding on an electric stand-up scooter traveling north on South Second Street when they proceeded through a properly posted stop sign at the intersection at Union Street without stopping. The juveniles entered the intersection at Union Street without clearance and rode into the path of a vehicle that was lawfully traveling west on Union Street. The scooter being ridden by the juveniles was struck by the vehicle, resulting in minor injuries to the juveniles. 

The Columbia Police Department wishes to remind its residents and guests that the riding of electric stand-up scooters on public streets and sidewalks is illegal in Pennsylvania.
