Response to a post from Johnny Irizarry on “What’s happening in Columbia, PA”:

On Thursday, 5/13/2021, I spoke with Johnny Irizarry concerning the Soldiers of Light making an appearance in Columbia on Saturday.  During our conversation, Johnny expressed some complaints as well as ideas about the Police Department and community.  As has been my practice, I agreed to meet with Johnny to discuss his concerns and ideas.  Plans were made to reconnect next week to set up a meeting.

At no time did I express support for a private group of individuals, such as the Soldiers of Light, patrolling the streets of Columbia.  My willingness to engage Mr. Irizarry is simply an opportunity for a citizen to speak with a Borough official about a perceived problem.

I have great confidence in the men and women of the Columbia Borough Police Department and strongly believe that the Department works hard to address the needs of the community.
