The Central Pennsylvania Weather Forecast Office has issued a Dangerous Heat Advisory for Tuesday 6/29/21, from 11AM to 7PM, forecasting high temperatures in the mid-90s and a maximum heat index of 100-104°. There is an increased risk of heat-related illness, especially for children, the elderly and people with pre-existing health conditions.
Prevent Heat-Related Illness by:
- Wearing loose-fitting, lightweight clothing
- Protect against sunburn
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Never leave anyone in a parked vehicle
- Take it easy during the hottest parts of the day
Symptoms of heat exhaustion (may develop suddenly or over time):
- Cool, moist skin with goose bumps when in the heat
- Heavy sweating
- Faintness
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Weak, rapid pulse
- Low blood pressure upon standing
- Muscle cramps
- Nausea
- Headache
If you think you're experiencing heat exhaustion:
- Stop all activity and rest
- Move to a cooler place
- Drink cool water or sports drinks
- Contact your doctor if your signs or symptoms worsen or if they don't improve within one hour.
