The Columbia Borough Council made history Tuesday night with the unanimous approval of Holly Arndt as the next Police Chief. Arndt’s appointment marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the first woman to lead the department in its 131-year history.
Chief Arndt is scheduled to officially assume her new command on May 1, 2026.
In a meeting that balanced future leadership with current departmental growth, the Council also celebrated the promotion of Jack Kopp to the rank of Corporal. The promotion was formally presented by Lieutenant Arndt, highlighting a seamless transition of leadership within the ranks.
“This is a historic moment for Columbia Borough,” the Council noted during the proceedings, emphasizing the department’s commitment to excellence and progress.
Chief Arndt takes over a department with more than a century of service to the community, ushering in a new era for law enforcement in the borough.
