The Erie County District Attorney's Office was proud to participate in the Safe Journey Purple One initiative in partnership with the Gabby Petito Foundation, helping strengthen awareness, education, and coordinated response efforts surrounding domestic violence throughout Erie County.
Domestic violence impacts individuals, children, families, and entire communities. Through collaboration with local partners, the DA’s Office remains committed to equipping first responders and law enforcement officers with practical skills focused on scene safety, risk assessment, and effective communication with victims and involved parties. These efforts are designed to improve response, enhance victim safety, and strengthen community trust.
The initiative also focuses on connecting individuals and families with appropriate local and national domestic violence resources and support services. In addition, the Erie County DA’s Office continues to facilitate the use of the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP), an evidence-based tool designed to identify high-risk domestic violence situations and provide immediate access to advocacy and support.
The goal is clear: to ensure help is visible, accessible, and available in every municipality throughout Erie County.
By working together with community organizations, advocates, emergency responders, and residents, Erie County continues to take meaningful steps toward prevention, intervention, and support for those impacted by domestic violence.
