Yesterday May 1, 2023, District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz announced that Erie County will become the twenty-second county in Pennsylvania to join the Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative (LETI), a collaborative program launched by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and law enforcement to divert individuals in need to treatment services.
LETI is a law enforcement-led treatment initiative that will allow individuals in our community seeking treatment for substance use disorder to avoid arrest by using local law enforcement, county officials, and community stakeholders, to contact the Erie County Office of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
LETI is also an initiative provided to the community who knows someone or is struggling themselves with a substance use disorder. Call Erie County Office of Drug and Alcohol Abuse and tell them you want to make a LETI referral for yourself or a friend and they will assist you.
LETI seeks to reduce deaths, overdoses, and crime associated with drug addiction by getting individuals into treatment by providing one point of contact for those seeking treatment.
LETI will also serve to strengthen police-community relationships by training law enforcement officers in how better to help individuals suffering from substance use disorder.
Anyone can refer themselves or someone they know into treatment.
If you or someone you know is suffering with substance use disorder, contact the Erie County Office of Drug & Alcohol Abuse at 814-451-6877.
