Congratulations to DA’s Spelling Bee Champions “BEE-Yond a Reasonable Doubt”
Mission and Engagement Objectives:
• Encourage continuous reading and learning among children and youth in Erie County.
• Promote parental involvement in reading at home with their children.
• Advocate for schools to implement in-home reading initiatives.
• Raise community awareness regarding the importance of books in households, home reading programs, and ongoing education.
• Collaborate with other non-profit organizations serving economically disadvantaged populations to distribute books to children and youth in need.
• Offer Books for Birthdays, allowing parents or caregivers to select up to three books annually for a child's special occasions.
• Provide access to Hooked on Books for Kids representatives through the Speaker's Bureau, catering to organizations interested in literacy and Books for Kids initiatives.
• Since inception in 1990, nearly 500,000 books have been distributed.
• Distribute books via schools, social service agencies, food banks, service organizations, and other non-profits serving underprivileged children and youth in Erie County.
• Operate as an all-volunteer, non-profit organization ensuring that all funds raised are directed towards purchasing books or covering essential program costs such as printing, postage, and warehouse space.
• Hooked on Books for Kids is dedicated to promoting literacy, fostering a love for reading, and facilitating lifelong learning among underprivileged children and youth in Erie County, Pennsylvania.
