On August 6, 2025, Defonta Butler, 32, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for stalking and killing Jeffrey Johnson, 40. Butler was found guilty of first-degree murder after trial by jury on June 3, 2025. At trial, the Commonwealth argued that Butler followed the victim for 90 minutes before shooting eight shots, two of which hit the victim, killing him. It is believed that the crime was committed as revenge for a shooting years earlier. Chief Deputy ADA Steven Liboski and ADA Megan Koma prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
