The Court of Common Pleas of the Sixth Judicial District of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania held its 14th Graduation Ceremony for the Erie County Veterans Treatment Court on Tuesday May 02, 2023.
Veterans treatment court is a specialty court that provide key services to military veterans who are charged with minor crimes and who struggle with issues such as substance abuse, trauma or loss of structure.
The program involves a support team of professionals who mentor and assist veterans with accountability and individualized treatment. The participants have to complete various requirements such as attending court hearings, counseling sessions, drug tests and community service.
The graduation ceremony is a way to honor and celebrate the veterans who have successfully completed the program and have pledged to keep marching towards recovery. The ceremony features speakers such as judges, veterans & mentors who share their stories and congratulate the graduates for their diligent efforts and proud accomplishments.
The ceremony also gives the graduates an opportunity to express their gratitude to the court staff, mentors, family and friends who have supported them throughout the program. Some graduates also share their personal experience on how the program has changed their lives for the better.
